Tis the season for sparkling eye makeup! Whether you’re going to a holiday party or just brightening up the winter days, you’ll want to know this foiling technique for getting the most shine from your pigments.
Starting with a clean face with foundation and blush already applied, I begin the eyes with a touch of black liner at the outer corners of my eyes.
I fill my waterline with gold liner.
I sweep blush all across my lids. This will add depth to the final look and prevent pale shimmering shadows from giving me a washed-out look.
I use an eyeliner brush to fill in my brows with a warm brown shade.
I use concealer above the brows to clean up the edges.
I use an angled brush to apply shimmering brown to the outer corners of my eyelids.
I use the same brush and shadow to line beneath my lower lashes.
Finally I line my creases in brown. I blend with my ring fingers.
I use a point brush to apply shimmering white powder below my eyebrows. I blend this in with the brown at the crease.
The key to good foiling is good setting spray. You want to thoroughly wet a point brush with setting spray before dipping the brush in loose shimmering eyeshadow.
I press the shadow against my eyelids, leaving a lot behind as I go.
I topped up with Maybelline Great Lash today, coating upper and lower lashes.
Here’s the finished look. Wetting my brush and foiling gives my eyes a much brighter sparkle than dry application does.
